Madhuri Shankar Dixit was born on May 15, 1967, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She comes from a Marathi-speaking Brahmin family. Her father, Shankar Dixit, and mother, Snehlata Dixit, supported her artistic inclinations from a young age. Madhuri was trained in Kathak, a classical Indian dance form, which later became one of her defining talents.
Madhuri made her acting debut in 1984 with the film "Abodh," which did not achieve commercial success. However, her breakthrough came in 1988 with the film "Tezaab," in which her dance number "Ek Do Teen" became an instant hit. The success of "Tezaab" established Madhuri as a leading actress in Bollywood.
